The best resorts of Bulgaria include Solar coast, St. Konstantin and Elena, Gold sands, Albena, Kranevo, - they all are isolated from the vanity and pressure of the big cities, and are located near the interesting tourist objects.
Sofia is one of the most ancient cities in Europe. One of the most interesting sights of the capital is the St. George's church - the oldest temple of Sofia - built of red brick on the place of the Roman rotunda . On the dome inside there are remained frescos, the earliest of them are aging Х century, and outside there are remained the rests of the ancient Serdiki streets (Roman name of the city). Under the hotel "Rila Planina" they found ruins of the Roman residence with perfectly extant mosaic.
Veliko Turnovo
You should dropp off to the city-reserve Veliko Turnovo, ancient capital of the Second Bulgarian kingdom (1185 - 1393), to see the Imperial palace, picturesque towers Patriarchal and Balduin in the fortress of Tsarevets on the hill with the same name near which they regularly hold the show "Sound and light", narrating about the history of the city. The scenic quarter Varusha, St. Peter and Pavel's monastery (XIII century) and Kapinovsky monastery, as well as the churches of St. Dimitar Solunsky (XI century, the oldest one in the city) and SS. Forty Martyrs Church (1230) are also of great interest. The city has Ss. Cyril and Methodius University - the second large university in the country, and also excellent museums of the Second Bulgarian kingdom and Renaissance Museum, numerous galleries of arts and plenty of picturesque houses in the national style.
Gabrovo
Gabrovo is the world "laughter capital" and the city interesting with its traditions some 49 km from Veliko Turnovo. Etyr (9 km from Gabrovo) has the ethnographic open-air museum where you can get acquainted with the traditional national crafts, original national cuisine and ceremonies.
